DAY
4

Meet your driver cum guide at the resort post breakfast. Our first stop today is the Ananthapura Lake Temple located 25 Kms north of Kasargode town. The Temple stands in the middle of a 2 acre wide lake with Lord Vishnu as the main deity and considered as the original seat of Ananthapathmanabha Swami- the deity of Pathmanabha Swami Temple of Thiruvananthapuram (approx 575 Kms to the South). In the lake lives a crocodile known by the name Babia and is claimed to be a vegetarian as it has never been reported to harm anyone even though devotees take bath in the pond. It’s believed to be reborn after death as no one has seen more than one crocodile in the pond till date. We drive towards Kannur after the temple visit, to embark on a river cruise with lunch on a houseboat at the Thejaswini River. Get yourself re-energized on this lazy cruise on the river opening enjoying the sight of lush green coconut palms dotting the river banks as it lazes into the Arabian Sea. During the 2 Hr cruise you will be served with a sumptuous lunch. Disembark from the boat after the refreshing cruise and we drive ahead to Kannur. Arrive at your resort by evening, check in and rest of the day is free. Overnight stay at Kannur.

KANNUR

DAY

Start the day leisurely with a visit to the St Angelo Fort, built in 1505 by Dom Francisco De Almeida- the first Portuguese Viceroy of India. The Fort was later captured by the Dutch who modified it and later sold it to Ali Raja of Arakkal Dynasty- the only Muslim Dynasty to have ruled in the area of modern day Kerala. Later, visit to a local Beedi manufacturing unit. Beedi is a thin cigarette or mini cigar filled with tobacco leaves wrapped in ebony leaf and tied with a string believed to be originated in India way back in 17th century. It’s still manufactured in the age old way in the remote villages of Kerala. After a brief interaction with the workers here, we break for lunch and visit to the Payyambalam Beach. By sundown we will be travelling to a local temple to witness the Theyyam performance (Theyyam is a traditional temple and hence availability of performance depends on festival timings). Drive back to your hotel for overnight stay.
